Tennis Defeats Union 7-2

SCHENECTADY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team swept the doubles match-ups en route to a 7-2 victory at Union College Saturday afternoon. Junior Dana Lim (New City, N.Y.) led the Hawks with victories at both No. 1 singles and doubles, teaming up with Eri Yamakawa (Cortlandt, Manor, N.Y.) for an 8-2 doubles victory. Lim was forced to a tiebreak in the first set of singles, but won the match 7-6, 6-2.
At fourth singles Kerri Serkes (Massapequa, N.Y.) was taken to three sets, and prevailed 3-6, 6-4, 10-4. New Paltz’s Stephanie Schara (Huntington, N.Y.) defeated Libby Johnson, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 singles, and Alyssa Zulli (Riverhead, N.Y.) defeated Natalie Ullman 6-3, 6-2, to round out New Paltz’s singles victories. Union won second and third singles.
Serkes and Schara defeated Kathleen Rucci and Roni Brumberger, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, while Lovinger and Zulli defeated Lyndsay Wehrum and Johnson at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
