Baseball Drops Two to Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY — The baseball team traveled to Brockport this afternoon for a SUNYAC doubleheader fell to the Golden Eagles 9-0 in the game one and 3-2 in the eighth inning of the second game. New Paltz falls to 14-12 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to three runs in the first inning and plated two more in the third en route to 9-0 win in game one. Joel Judson broke up the perfect game for Brockport in the fourth inning with a single. New Paltz totaled four hits and left five on base. Jimmy Donohue took the loss on the mound allowing nine hits, eight runs, one walk and striking out two batters in six innings.
In game two, a single in the top of the first inning led to a run giving New Paltz a 1-0 lead. Brockport would respond with two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead at 2-1. In the top of the third inning, the Hawks tied the game at 2-2 and both pitchers settled down and allowed no runs over the final four innings sending the seven inning game into extra innings. The Hawks were shut down in the top of the eighth before Brockport scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the inning to defeat the Hawks in game two by a 3-2 score. Potter pitched 7 2/3 inning, allowing three runs, five hits, and struck out seven for New Paltz, dropping his first decision of the season on the mound. Offensively, Terlekcy was 1-3 with one RBI and Jesse Marsh and Kevin Paino each tallied one hit for New Paltz.
The Hawks will return to action on Monday April 14th when they travel to Fredonia for a make up SUNYAC doubleheader at 1pm.
