Two runners traveled to New York City to attend the New York Relays at Icahn Stadium on Saturday April, 12th.
First year Joe Gentsch competed in the Seated section of the Men’s collegiate and open 1500 meter run. Gentsch set a personal best time of 4:16.07 and placed 3rd in the collegiate section. Twenty minutes later he came back to run in the second section of the 800 meters and placed third again with a personal best time of 2:02.05. Gentsch scored 12 points for his team of one, which placed New Paltz in tie with the college of Staten Island for eighth place and in front of Queens, York, Columbia and Bronx CC.
Junior Stephanie Albinski led her female team of one in the 1500 and 800 meter runs.
She set a personal best in the 1500 in a time of 5:31.93 and later came back to finish the 800 meter run in 2:48.47.
Both Gentsch and Albinski’s performances are strong indication that they will finish their seasons with exceptional performances at the Vassar Invitational on May 2.
