The SUNY New Paltz women’s swim team completed the first day of events at the 2008 NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Nationals in Ohio. Michelle Coombs highlighted the day with a third place finish in the 50 free (23.50) after finishing fourth in the prelims. Her third place finish grants her first team All-America status.
The 200 free relay of Coombs, Becky Baker, Erica Ellis and Christine Reith touched 16th in the final in a time of 1:40.04, earning honorable mention All-America status. The quartet also finished 17th in the 400 medley relay in 4:01.38 in the morning prelims.
