Women’s Swimming Sending Four to NCAA’s

NEW PALTZ, NY — Four members of the women’s swimming team have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving championships. The championship will take place March 13-15, 2008 at the University of Miami (Ohio) and hosted by Wooster (OH) College.
Michelle Coombs was invited for three individual events and first year Becky Baker will be swimming in one individual event. Coombs and Baker will team up with junior Erica Ellis and first year Christine Rieth for relay events.
Coombs is ranked second in the 50 free with a time of 23.65 and third in the 100 back in 57.16. She is the 2007 national champion in the 100 free and will attempt to defend her title as she is seeded sixth in 51.83. Baker is seeded 26th in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.42.
The four women will combine to swim several relay events. The 200 medley relay is seeded fourth (1:46.94), 200 free relay is tenth (1:36.94), 800 free relay is 13th (7:48.36), 400 free relay is 14th (3:33.51) and the 400 medley relay is 15th (3:58.89).
