Men’s Basketball Falls to Potsdam 77-54

NEW PALTZ, NY — The men’s basketball team hosted Potsdam tonight and fell to the Bears 77-54. New Paltz tied the game at 16-16 on a Kyle Nelson layup at 10:06. Potsdam proceeded to go on an 11-0 run over the next 4:30, but New Paltz responded with a 13-3 run of their own to trail 30-29 at the intermission. In the second half, New Paltz trailed 41-36 with 16 minutes remaining, but that is as close as they would come as Potsdam led by double digits the final 11 minutes of the game.
Senior Victory Alvarez led New Paltz with 13 points, including three buckets from behind the arc. Kyle Nelson finished with 11 points and Lee Bertram chipped in with seven points and a team high seven rebounds.
