Men’s Basketball Falls to #12 Plattsburgh

The men’s basketball team traveled to Plattsburgh tonight to face the #12 Cardinals and were defeated 87-68.
Sophomore Lee Bertram led the Hawks with 16 points and five rebounds. Bertram was 6-10 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Junior Matt Hauser finished with 11 points, seven boards and five assists. Kyle Nelson added nine points and Victor Alvarez and Jimmy Sugrue each scored eight points.
Senior Brian Kuar hit a three pointer with 25 seconds left in the first half to tie the game for the fifth time at 36-36 before heading into the locker room. In the second half, Matt Hauser tied the game at 47-47 on a three point play at 15:06. But then the #12 Cardinals put together a 28-5 streak over the next six minutes to open up the game.
New Paltz will return to action on Saturday when they face Potsdam at 4:00 pm.
