UTICA, NY — The women’s basketball team traveled to Utica this afternoon and defeated SUNYIT 73-58. The Hawks advance to 11-5 and 6-3 in the conference.
New Paltz led 16-7 in the first before the Wildcats went on a 10-2 run to cut the game to within one. The Hawks outscored SUNYIT 13-6 to close the half 31-23. New Paltz maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half, with the Wildcats pulling to within eight at 3:40.
Carly Minehan and Artie Williams led the Hawks with 14 points each, as Williams grabbed a game high 10 boards. Kristen Caban finished with 13 points and Maggie Farrell scored eight points and hauled down five rebounds.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday January 29th against Hartwick at 7:00 pm.
