Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Morrisville on Senior Day

NEW PALTZ, NY — Five different New Paltz players scored goals on Saturday afternoon as the women’s soccer team rolled past Morrisville 5-0 as a part of senior day. Senior Stephanie Potts led the way with a goal and an assist. The win moves New Paltz to 6-5-4 overall and 4-2-3 in conference play while Morrisville falls to 0-15-1 overall and 0-9 in the SUNYAC. The Mustangs are in their first year of reclassifying to Division III play.
First year Emily Buckner put the Hawks on the board 38 seconds into the contest. Buckner fired a shot from the left side past Morrisville keeper Katie Tiffany. Six minutes later junior Kate Addiss scored on a through ball from Potts. Senior Kelly Amendola connected from Jennifer Moretti on a corner kick at 20:01 for her second goal of the season.
In the second stanza Potts blasted a shot from the right side, which sailed just under the cross bar into the top of the net at 48:39. Three minutes later junior Jennifer Anselmni completed the scoring. Junior Sarah Boccard posted the shutout in nets.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Oneonta to take on the Red Dragons at 3:00 pm.
