Natel Lifts Men’s Soccer past Morrisville 3-2

First year Lucas Natel scored two goals in the final ten minutes and 16 seconds to lift New Paltz past Morrisville 3-2. The Hawks improve to 3-10-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Anton Shipman put the Hawks on the board first in the tenth minute on an assist from Allan Bronstein for his second goal of the season. Morrisville’s Andrew Ketchem tallied the equalizer at 18:24 on a penalty kick. The Mustangs took a 2-1 lead when John Jones fed a ball to Chris Wisdom who fired a shot past New Paltz keeper Patrick Carlucci at 22:39.
In the second stanza the two teams battled back forth until 79:44 when Natel netted his first collegiate goal. At 84:49 Natel connected on a pass from classmate Nick Lamon for the game winner. The Hawks edged out the Mustangs 17-16 in the shot count and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks. Carlucci picks up his second win in as many days, making six saves. New Paltz returns to action on Wednesday when they host Oneonta at 3:00 p.m.
