Women’s Tennis Falls Short to Geneseo, 5-4

NEW PALTZ, NY — The women’s tennis team hosted the Geneseo this afternoon and fell to the Knights, 5-4. The Hawks started strong, claiming two of the three doubles sets. Liz Beirne and Lyndsey Lovinger teamed up to win second doubles 8-0 and Lindsey Trifiletti and Stephanie Schara won third doubles, 8-4. In singles action junior Dana Lim battled through a three set match at first singles to defeat Erika Pumple 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Sophomore Lyndsey Lovinger defeated Caitlin Sternberg in three sets at fourth singles. After falling 6-4 in the first set, Lovinger fought back 6-1, 6-0 in the second and third sets, respectively.
The Hawks fall to 4-1 on the season and host Brockport Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.

Lyndsey Lovinger battled to a three set win in fourth singles, and teamed with Liz Beirne to win second doubles.
