Women’s Tennis Defeats Brockport 7-2

NEW PALTZ, NY — New Paltz improved to 5-1 in dual action this season with a 7-2 victory over Brockport this afternoon.
Junior Dana Lim, the defending SUNYAC first singles winner, prevailed 6-2, 6-2. The remaining singles wins by the Hawks came in straight sets. Sophomore Laura-Elizabeth Beirne won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and classmante Lyndsey Lovinger was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fourth singles. Junior Lindsey Trifiletti posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at fifth singles and sophomore Kerri Serkes, last year’s sixth singles league titleholder, won 6-1, 6-0.
Beirne and Lovinger, the SUNYAC champs at third doubles last year, won at second singles, 8-4, and Trifiletti and freshman Stephanie Schara won 8-0 at third doubles.
The Hawks return to action September 21-23 when they compete in the ITA tournament at William Smith.
