Moretti Seals Win in 2 OT

NEW PALTZ, NY — Wednesday afternoon the Hawks (1-2) took on the Roadrunners of Ramapo (2-1). Twenty minutes into the first half, freshman Emily Buckner (Pinebush, NY) assisted junior Kate Addiss (Amherst, NY) for her first goal of the season to put the Hawks on top 1-0. The pretty shot into the lower left corner of the net was the only goal allowed by either team for the remainder of the half.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Roadrunners’ Kimberly Bruno tied the score at 1-1 where it would remain for the rest of regulation. New Paltz had two key opportunities late in the game, the first one with 14 minutes remaining as Lauren Martel (Sayville, NY) sent a cross ball from the right side which was deflected by the Ramapo defense. With 5:36 left, Brittany Bennet (Smithtown, NY) just missed the net, sending the ball over the cross bar by only inches.

After a scoreless overtime period, the game went into double OT where sophomore Jennifer Moretti (Sayville, NY) ended it on a direct kick only a minute into the period. New Paltz goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) had 10 saves in the game. Jessica DaRold stopped five shots in the loss.
