ITA Day Two Results – Beirne Advances to Consolation Final Four

GENEVA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team ended the second day of competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tournament held at William Smith in Geneva, NY.
In the consolation bracket for singles, Liz Beirne defeated Ashley Balling of Brockport 8-2 and Christy Alexander of Richard Stockton 8-6. Beirne moves into the final four of the consolation bracket and will face Holly Smith of NYU on Sunday. Eri Yamakawa defeated Jaclyn Manning of NYU 8-6 before falling 8-1 to Allyson Kingman of Stevens Tech. Lyndsey Lovinger lost to Joanna Cash of RIT 8-4.
In doubles play, Lim and Yamakawa lost to the number one seed of Contrafatto and Shtemberg from the College of New Jersey 8-4. Beirne and Lovinger moved to the consolation round of doubles and defeated Holzman/Gbelama of Drew 8-3 before being eliminated by Cohen/Nunez of Ithaca 8-6.
