Hawks Tally First Goals of Season in 6-2 Loss to Fredonia

FREDONIA, NY — The men’s soccer team traveled to Fredonia this afternoon and fell to the Blue Devils 6-2. The Hawks fall to 0-7 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
New Paltz tallied their first goal of the season 15 minutes into the contest when Joe Rose crossed the ball, which deflected off the post onto the foot of Justin Thomson who knocked the shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Fredonia responded nine minutes later on a free kick from the top of the box, followed by four consecutive goals for the 5-1 advantage. New Paltz scored their second goal when Fredonia’s keeper dropped the ball and Anton Shipman knocked it in to cut the lead to 5-2. Fredonia finished the scoring with two minutes left in regulation. Peter Carmel made nine saves for the Hawks in 60 minutes, and Mike Judge posted one save in 30 minutes. New Paltz returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Buffalo State to face the Bengals at 1pm.
