Hawks Drop Game to Union
SCHENECTADY, NY — The men’s soccer team took on Union College this afternoon and fell to the Dutchman 3-0 in the first day of the Union Classic. Union broke a scoreless tie in the 64th minute on a header.
The two teams played a scoreless first half, with Union holding a 6-2 shot advantage. New Paltz’s only shot on net came in the 28th minute when freshman Lucas Natel (Mineola, NY) carried up the ball from midfield before sending a low shot on the right which was scooped up by the Union netminder.
Union took the 2-0 lead in the 78th minute, and added the final goal in the 90th minute. First year goaltender Peter Carmel (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) finished with three saves as the Hawks fall to 0-3 on the season. New Paltz takes on RPI tomorrow afternoon at 4pm.
