Women’s Volleyball Claims Vassar Invite with 4-0 Weekend

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The women’s volleyball team won the Vassar Invitational today, claiming two more victories for a 4-0 weekend. In the morning match, the Hawks defeated St. Joseph’s 3-0 (30-11, 30-16, 30-22). Lauren Hogue had four kills on four attempts and Stephanie Bova handed out 23 assists. Senior Lindsey Brown served four aces and Stephanie Skrobach collected eight digs.
The Hawks faced Skidmore in the afternoon and battled to a 3-2 win (20-30, 34-32, 25-30, 30-15, 18-16). All Tournament selection Kim Braga paced the offense with 26 kills and three service aces. Junior Nicole Mercadante collected 25 digs and Katie Becofsky finished with 23 digs. Hogue dished out seven assists and Brittany Coyle and Dana Kindelmann each tallied two solo blocks.
New Paltz advances to 6-2 on the season and will host the Hawk Invite September 14-15th with the Hawks facing Elmira on Friday at 2:00 pm.
