Men’s Volleyball Splits 1-1 on the Day

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team traveled to Endicott College for the March Mania Tournament and went 1-1 in the first day of play. The Hawks defeated Villa Julie 3-0 in the first match by scores of 30-27, 30-19, 30-15. Joshua Spiro led the attack with 10 kills and Christopher Holden finished with nine kills and 10 block assists. Senior Jeff Lee collected seven digs and Matt Weingarten handed out 36 assists.
New Paltz went on to face MIT and were defeated 3-2 (32-30, 25-30, 30-27, 23-30, 15-7). Holden paced the offense with 16 kills on 27 attempts and eight blocks. Lee finished with 16 kills, Pedro Medina added 13 digs and Weingarten dished out 56 assists. The Hawks will now face Rivier on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
