Hawks Fall Short to Lakers, 92-87

OSWEGO, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team traveled to Oswego Friday night and dropped a 92-87 decision to the Lakers. The Hawks had all five starters reach double figures as senior John Hauser hit 10 of 18 from the field and seven of nine from the charity stripe on his way to 28 points. Amseshem Foluke-Henderson and Tony Cannon each chipped in with 16 points. Cannon grabbed seven boards and Foluke-Henderson haulded down 12 rebounds and dished out four assists. Matt Irwin finished with 11 points and four assists and Matt Hauser scored 10 points.
Oswego held a 38-33 intermission advantage due to a 6-0 run before the end of the half. The lead changed 18 times with the last tie coming at 75-75 with 4:30 remaining. The Hawks trailed by two with 38 seconds left, 85-83 before the Lakers hit seven of eight free throw attempts to keep the lead and seal the win.
SUNY New Paltz falls to 10-11 on the season and 3-9 in SUNYAC play. The Hawks will return to action Saturday when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bengals at 5 p.m.
