Hawks Claim OT Win Against Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s basketball team traveled to Buffalo State Saturday afternoon to take on the Bengals and claimed a 72-67 overtime victory. Buffalo State tied the game at 58 with 17 seconds remaining in regulation. Junior Amber Sohns got a shot off with five seconds left but the attempt fell short, forcing overtime.
First year Kristen Caban led the Hawks with a career high 17 points, hitting six of ten from the floor and three of five from the line. Classmate Chelsea Clarke finished with 11 points and junior Amber Sohns added 10 points and six boards.
The Hawks advance to 14-8 on the season and 8-5 in conference play. The win breaks a five game conference losing streak for the Hawks. SUNY New Paltz will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Oneonta.
