Men’s Volleyball Falls to #4 Stevens

NEW PALTZ, NY — The 15th ranked SUNY New Paltz Hawks hosted #4 Stevens Institute of Technology Wednesday night and dropped a 3-0 decision. In game one the Ducks used a .243 attack percentage compared to the Hawks’ .067 percentage to claim a 30-26 victory. The second game was a hard fought battle with Stevens prevailing in the end with a 31-29 come from behind win. The Hawks took a 29-27 lead after a block by Alexander Jackson and Christopher Holden and an attack error by Stevens. After the timeout, Stevens tallied three straight kills for the 30-29 lead and sealed game two on an attack error by New Paltz.
In game three the score was tied 10-10 before Stevens went on a six point run to take command and never look back as they cruised to a 30-19 win.
Joshua Spiro led the attack for New Paltz with nine kills on 15 attempts. First year Christopher Holden finished with eight kills, Pedro Medina tallied 11 digs and Matt Weingarten handed out 26 assists.
The Hawks return to action next Wednesday Jan. 31 at 7 pm when they host New Jersey City University.
