Hawks Extend Win Streak to Six

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks extended their win streak to six Tuesday night with a 67-52 victory over local opponent Vassar. The Hawks used an 8-2 run to open up the second half for a nine point lead with 16:08 remaining and never looked back. The Brewers came to within five at 12:58 but couldn’t close the gap. The New Paltz bench proved to be deeper than Vassar’s as the Hawks bench outscored the Brewers 33-3.
Leading the way for the Hawks was first year Carly Minehan with 12 points on six of eight from the floor and hauled down five boards. Classmate Kristen Caban finished with nine points hitting all three of her attempts from the floor, including two from behind the arc. Nicole Sarcone chipped in with nine points, five boards and five steals and senior Jenny Driscoll added eight for the Hawks.
Rachel Cerlen paced Vassar with 20 points and twelve boards.
The Hawks return to action this weekend when they travel to Geneseo on Friday and Brockport on Saturday.
