Oneonta Shuts Out New Paltz 2-0

ONEONTA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team traveled to Oneonta Wednesday afternoon to take on the Red Dragons in a SUNYAC contest. The Hawks fell to the third ranked Red Dragons 2-0, and drop to 5-8-3 overall and 3-5-2 in SUNYAC play.

Oneonta took the board in the 27th minute of play as Kirsten Clapper took control of a ball in front of New Paltz keeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) and sent a shot into the net. The Red Dragons second goal came three minutes into the second when Mary Velan headed the ball past Boccard off a corner kick by Calli Jo Sheldon.

The Hawks were out shot 27-0 and only took one corner kick to the Red Dragons ten. Boccard kept the Red Dragons offense in check finishing with 14 saves in goal for the Hawks.

New Paltz will be back in action when they host Russell Sage in a non-conference match up on Friday, October 20th at Alumni Field at 3:00pm. This will be the final home game for the three seniors who will be recognized before the game.
