Valiants Too Much For Hawks

MANHATTANVILLE, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks field hockey team traveled to Manhattanville Tuesday night to take on the Valiants in the pouring rain. Valiant senior Alissa Tyghter was took much for the Hawks to handle as she scored all four goals as the Hawks fell 4-2.

Tyghter found the back of the net twice, just three minutes apart in the first half to get the Valiants out to early 2-0 lead.

Tyghter was able to repeat her performance in the second half, this time netting two goals just seven minutes apart to put the Valiants up 4-0.

The Hawks were able to break onto the board with a penalty shot at 51:48 from Heather McCoy that slid past the left side of Manhattanville keeper Lauren Gagnon.

New Paltz rounded out the scoring with a shot from Jacqueline Sisco that came from Kristen Bergmann at 60:10.

Gagnon finished the game with three saves for the Valiants while Nicole Kovac and Jess Malone combined for eight saves for the Hawks.

The Hawks will return to action this weekend when they take on Wells College and Elmira College.
