Kelty Leads Hawks to 4-0 Win over Lakers

NEW PALTZ, NY — Senior Kerri Kelty (Vally Stream, NY) contributed on all four Hawk goals as the SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win over Oswego State on Friday, Sept. 22. The Hawks team advances to 2-5-1 overall and 1-2 in SUNYAC play.

New Paltz opened the scoring seven minutes into the game when Kelty scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon. Kelty headed a shot past Oswego goalkeeper Melissa Hacknauer, off a corner kick by Jennifer Moretti (Sayville, NY). In the 32nd minute, Kelty sent a through ball to junior Jamie McBain who flicked the ball into the lower left corner of the net for the 2-0 lead.

Kelty tallied her second goal of the game five minutes into the second half as she blasted a one touch into the upper right corner of net, with the assist being credited to senior Alison Fliegle (New Hyde Park, NY). Kelty was back in the action in the 66th minute when she found Stephanie Potts (Cortlandt Manor, NY) in front of the net who capped off the scoring.

The Hawks outshot the Lakers 18-10 in the game and dominated the corner kicks 13-1. Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) posted six saves in her first shutout for the Hawks, while Hauknauer made six saves in the losing effort for Oswego.

New Paltz will return to SUNYAC action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Cortland Red Dragon’s at 1 p.m.
