Lim and Yamakawa Advance to Final Round of Doubles, Lim Advances to Semifinals in Singles

GENEVA, NY — Day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tournament held at William Smith in Geneva, NY began this morning.
Sophomore Dana Lim (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) and junior Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) took part in the third round of singles play after advancing through from yesterday. Yamakawa fell to the #2 seed, Jackie Shtemberg, of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 6-1, 6-1. Lim faced Kristen Turturiello of TCNJ and won in straight sets of 6-3, 6-3. Lim went on to the quarterfinal round and defeated Cassie Webster of the University of Rochester 6-2, 6-2. Lim advances to the semifinal round tomorrow where she will face Shtemberg.
Laura Elizabeth-Beirne (Moriches, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) has advanced to the semifinal round in the consolation bracket.
In doubles action, Lim and Yamakawa, seeded number two, defeated Karam and Lannon of St. Lawrence, 8-6 to advance to the semifinal round. In the Semifinals, Lim and Yamakawa won 8-6 over Lee and Olsen of NYU.
Play will continue tomorrow morning.
