SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Team Finishes Fourth at Endicott

BEVERLY, MA — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team lost a hard fought match to Rivier College 3-2 (30-22, 30-24, 20-30, 20-30, 12-15) at the Endicott March Mania Invitational. Despite the Hawks loss, they managed to take fourth place. Rivier College went on to defeat Nazareth and captured their third straight Endicott March Mania Tournament.

In the 12:00 pm match SUNY New Paltz (17-8) faced Rivier College, with an impressive offensive attack, the Hawks won the first two games 30-22 and 30-24. Rivier(21-3) surged back winning games three 30-20, game four 30-20, and game five 15-12. Sophomore libero Pedro Medina (Brentwood, NY) led the defense with 21 digs and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Freshman setter Matt Weingarten (East Moriches, NY) dished out 40 assists, totaling 138 assists in three matches. Senior opposite Ryan Bullard (Smithtown, NY) had 17 kills while Greg Jackson (Central Square, NY) added 10 kills for SUNY New Paltz. The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, March 9, when they travel to Yeshiva for a 7:30 pm contest.
