27th In 200-yard Free, Masterson Looks Toward 100-yard Free

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Senior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY) completed this afternoon’s 200-freestyle preliminary heat in 27th place with a time of 1:57.15. In order to qualify for this evening’s final, Masterson needed to place in the top 16 preliminary times (1:55.22) at the 2006 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. At last year’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Masterson finished 20th (1:57.39) in the event.

Masterson will compete tomorrow, March 11, in the 100-yard freestyle. The 100-yard freestyle will be Masterson’s final event of the weekend. She will try to improve on her 27th place (53.91) finish from a year ago. Yesterday, March 10, she competed in the 50-yard freestyle taking third place with a 24.10.
