SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Cruises Past The Maccabees

NEW YORK, NY — This evening, the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team swept Yeshiva University 3-0 (30-9, 30-14, 30-18) in a North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) contest to gain their 18 win of the season and their ninth conference win. Yeshiva fell to 0-14 overall and 0-11 in NEVCA Metro play with the loss.

SUNY New Paltz (18-9, 9-3) started strong and never looked back securing the first game, 30-9. The Hawks remained unstoppable winning games two and three 30-14 and 30-18, respectively. Freshman setter Matt Weingarten (East Moriches, NY) led the attack for the Hawks with 25 assists. Senior outside hitter Jamie Kellogg (Scio, NY) tallied eight kills and eight digs in the affair. Junior middle blocker Josh Spiro (Island Park, NY) hammered seven kills and collected three aces. Freshman outside hitter Mark Blair (Point Pleasant, NJ) paced the offensive efforts of SUNY New Paltz with four aces while, sophomore middle blocker Mike Schneider (Wantagh, NY) led the defense with six blocks. The Hawks combined for a team hitting percentage of .375 over the three-game match.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team will travel to the campus of Bard College on Wednesday, March 15 for a 7:00 pm NECVA Metro Division contest.
