SUNY New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Team Falls To Stevens Tech

HOBOKEN, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team snapped their three game winning streak this evening when they fell to Stevens Tech by a score of 3-0 (31-29,30-26, 30-23).

In the first game, SUNY New Paltz (10-4, 4-2) kept it close but could not pull out the victory falling 31-29. In games two and three; the Hawks were unable to counter Stevens offensive attack, losing 30-25 and 30-23. Senior opposite Ryan Bullard (Smithtown, NY) tallied 14 kills, seven digs, and three blocks, while senior outside hitter Jamie Kellogg (Scio, NY) recorded seven kills and nine digs. Freshman setter Matt Weingarten (East Moriches, NY) led the Hawks offense with a team high 36 assists to go along with six digs in the loss.

Stevens (13-7, 5-0) was led by sophomore outside hitter/libero Brian Carison (West Seneca, NY) who collected 12 kills, six digs, and three blocks. Junior outside hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, NY) hit a team high .368 with 10 kills and only three attack errors in 19 total attempts. Junior middle hitter Will Foley (Clifton Park, NY) chipped in with seven kills and six blocks in the win.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team will return to action Saturday, February 18, at 11:00 am, when they host a tri-match with Polytechnic and Hilbert.
