SYRACURSE, NY — Junior Katie Rapp (Liverpool, NY) collected the Hawks third Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship with the completion of session four this evening. Rapp swam a 1:02.97 in the 100-yard backstroke. Senior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY), freshman Joelle Hopf (Vestal, NY), junior Liz Delia (Oswego, NY), and junior Ashley Williamson (Holland Patent, NY) combined for a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.88. Masterson and Delia each swam to an ECAC Championship in today’s morning session.
With a time of 1:03.53, sophomore Nick Johnson (Highland Mills, NY) grabbed a sixth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke as the top finisher for the men this evening. A team of freshman Chad Santa Maria (Rexford, NY), sophomore Brendan Lown (Bohemia, NY), sophomore Mike Demerest (Long Beach, NY) and Kevin Kent (Beacon Falls, CT) finished eighth with a time of 1:33.73.
Sophomores Liz Ruggiero (Congers, NY) and Laura Lipp (St. James, NY) placed third in their individual events. Ruggiero completed the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.98 and Lipp touched at 1:11.45 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Hopf and Delia followed Lipp in fourth (1:11.67) and seventh (1:13.00), respectively. Freshman Nicole Moss (Williamsville, NY) and sophomore Regina Davide (Ossining, NY) finished back-to-back in the 200-freestyle in 13th (2:07.25) and 14th (2:07.33).
In the men’s 100-yard backstroke, sophomore John Fleckenstein (Port Jefferson, NY) swam to a 21st place finish with a time of 1.14. Freshman Kevin Kent (Beacon Falls, NY) collected a 28th place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.54. Freshman Chris Smith (Suffern, NY) swam the 400-yard individual medley in 4:46.01, placing 22nd. Santa Maria finished 29th in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.51.
