Mazurowski Adds to List of 2005 Accolades
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) improved upon an already impressive senior season with a selection to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) New York Regional Team. With the selection, Mazurowski earns consideration for a selection as an All-American.
In 2005, Mazurowski has already developed quite the list of recognitions. Mazurowski, named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) East Division Player of the Year on November 7, recently received her second SUNYAC Player of the Week recognition for the week ending October 31; she had won the award earlier for the week ending September 27 when she received the same honor at the state level. In addition, Mazurowski was selected for the All-State First Team and she ranks fourth all-time in kills (1,054) and first in blocks (522) at SUNY New Paltz. She also has made several All-Tournament Teams throughout her senior year including the New Paltz Invitational, Red Dragon Classic, Union Invitational, SUNY/Liberty Crossover, and the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Tournament.
This weekend, November 12 and 13, Mazurowski will lead the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team as they travel to Elmira College for the 2005 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament. The Hawks enter the tournament as the second seed and, following a first round bye, will battle the winner of St. John Fisher and Elmira College.
