SUNY New Paltz Women’s Volleyball Finishes 3-1 at SUNY/Liberty

SARATOGA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team participated in the SUNY/Liberty conference crossover today at Skidmore College.

In the 12:00 pm match the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team defeated Clarkson (14-10) in four games. The Hawks took the first 30-24, the second 30-17, dropped the third 22-30 and rallied for the 3-1 victory with a 30-24 final in the fourth game. Junior outside hitter Franchesca Rodriguez (Schenectady, NY) led the Hawks with 11 kills and seven digs. Sophomore setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) totaled 33 assists and 16 digs in the match and senior outside hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) recorded nine kills and five blocks.

The Hawks faced Skidmore (20-9) in the 2:00 pm match. SUNY New Paltz fell to the Thoroughbreds 3-0. Skidmore took the first game 30-28, the second 30-27 and the third 30-25. Mazurowski had seven kills and eight blocks for the Hawks. Senior libero Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) tallied 29 digs.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team will host St. Joseph’s on Wednesday, October 19, at 7:30 pm.
