SUNY New Paltz Cross County Competes at SUNYAC Championship

PLATTSBURGH, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz cross country teams competed at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship Meet hosted by Plattsburgh. The women’s team finished eighth out of nine and the men finished 11th out of 11.

In the women’s 6,000-meter run senior Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT) led the Hawks to an eighth place finish. Choromanski crossed the finish line in 24:45.4 for a 26th place finish. The Hawks had two other runners place in the top 50, junior Alida Van Almelo (Groton, NY) ran 36th in a time of 25:21.8, Sophomore Kelly Dunphy (Hauppague, NY) finished in 25:25 and crossed 39th.

Senior George Correa (Central Islip, NY) was the top finisher for the men finishing the 8,000-meter run in 63rd at a time of 30:23.5. Sophomores Sean Brown (Verplanek, NY) and Josh Tucker (Red Hook, NY) and junior Mike Nelson (Dix Hills, NY) place 65, 66, and 67 respectively.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s cross country team will compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Meet on November 11.
