SUNY New Paltz Cross Country Competes at Hoffman Invitational

CANTON, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz cross-country teams participated in the 2005 Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University.

The women’s team placed sixth out of ten teams with 151 points. Junior Kelly Dunphy (Hauppauge, NY) led the way with a finishing time of 25:50, in 36th place. The womenýs team placed five other runners in the top fifty finishers. Senior Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT) finished 38th, in 25:57. Junior Alida Van Almelo (Groton, NY) finished 39th, in 25:58. Freshman Stephanie Albinski (Commack, NY) finished 43rd, in 26:08. Senior Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) placed 47th, in 26:19, and sophomore Winter Eyers (Selkirk, NY) finished 48th, in 26:20.

The men’s team ended the afternoon in 12th place, out of 13 teams, with 366 points. Freshman Sean Brown (Verplanek, NY) was the only Hawks to finish in the top 100. Brown came in 93rd with a time of 31:14. Junior Mike Nelson (Dix Hills, NY) placed 103rd, in 31:56. Freshman Ceilidah Clark (Wayland, NY) finished 110th, in 32:16. Senior George Correa (Central Islip, NY), finishing 114th, led a host of Hawks runners who completed the race in under 33 minutes.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete next at the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday, October 1.
