Hawks Gear Up For ECAC Tournament

NEW PALTZ, NY — On the heels of a 26-10 season, head coach Ian Walker and the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team will travel to Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire, on Saturday (Apr. 16) for this year?s Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Championship.

The Hawks are seeded second in the four-team tournament and will play third-seeded Newbury (29-7) at 12:00 p.m. The match will be the second of the season between the two teams. The Hawks defeated the Nighthawks 3-1 (30-16, 30-23, 27-30, 31-29) on March 11 at Elting Gymnasium.

SUNY New Paltz will make its first post-season appearance since winning the 2002 ECAC North Championship. The Hawks defeated Johnson & Wales and Roger Williams to capture the crown in ’02.

Rivier (34-6) is the top-seeded team in the single elimination tournament and will meet fourth seeded Endicott (19-9) at 10:00 a.m.

The championship game will be played at 3:00 p.m.
