MONTCLAIR, NJ — The SUNY New Paltz womenýs tennis team opened its spring season with an 8-1 win over Montclair State this afternoon. The Hawks (7-2) took control early with a sweep of the doubles event. Junior Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY) and freshman Alex Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) led the singles charge with straight set victories.
Singles #1 Eri Yamakawa (NP) lost to Eva Salierno (M) 6-1, 2-6, 3-6. #2 Kerry Farrell (NP) defeated Ashley Tomesko (M) 6-7, 7-6 (10-3). #3 Alex Goldberg (NP) defeated Mary Lou Rios (M) 6-1, 6-0. #4 Maggie Fenton (NP) defeated Veronica Rodriquez (M) 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 #5 Jen Larson (NP) defeated Margaret Tarabokija (M) 6-1, 6-2. #6 Laura Thomas (NP) defeated Alicia Feghhi (M) 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
