Ganje Racks Up Post-Season Honors

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz senior outside hitter Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY ý Shenendehowa) has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-America Team and to the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) All-Metro Team.

Ganje, who was a Second Team All-America selection, and a First Team All-Metro performer, helped lead the Hawks to a 26-10 record and a national ranking as high as seventh in the AVCA Division III Poll. He averaged a team-high 3.61 kills per game, was second on the squad in hitting percentage (.329) and third in service aces (0.39). On February 12, he recorded his 1,000th kill and with 1,245 career kills he ranks second on the Hawksý all-time list.

Itýs Ganjeýs first appearance on the AVCA All-America Team. He was however a NECVA First Team All-Metro honoree in 2004 as well.

The SUNY New Paltz menýs volleyball team will travel to Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire, on Saturday (Apr. 16) for this yearýs Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Championship.

The Hawks are seeded second in the four-team tournament and will play third-seeded Newbury (29-7) at 12:00 p.m. The match will be the second of the season between the two teams. The Hawks defeated Johnson & Wales and Roger Williams to capture the crown in ý02.

Rivier (34-6) is the top-seeded team in the single elimination tournament and will meet fourth seeded Endicott (19-9) at 10:00 a.m.

The championship game will be played at 3:00 p.m.
