School of Business to hold Business Plan Contest and Award Ceremony

NEW PALTZ — The School of Business at the State University of New York at New Paltz will hold the Business Plan Contest Presentation and Award Ceremony on Friday, May 6, at the College Terrace on campus. The teams will present their business plan before a panel of judges at 1 p.m. and the award ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

The Business Plan Contest is a unique program in which students are required to develop a business plan around an idea that benefits the SUNY New Paltz Campus and greater New Paltz community. They may also be called upon to implement their business plan.

This semester, there are four teams participating in this contest. They each consist of four students and a faculty advisor. The teams consist of the following students and faculty advisors: Professor Tom Forehand and students Cynthia Mafla, Clara Castillo, Erunuvia Castillo and Fitz Drummond; Professor Bruce Mather and students Craig Gottesman, Michelle Falco, Jeff Melton and Maya Graham; Professor Chih-Yang Tsai and students Katerina Felixova, Greg Novitski, Tham Cao and Veronika Safarova; and Professor Harsh Mishra and students Jumpei Onozuka, Heather Barnum, Reed Anderson and Erica Huie.

The School of Business, Campus Auxiliary Services (CAS), the Dean’s Student Advisory Board and the Business Institute are co-sponsors of the business plan contest. Through their sponsorship, these groups aim to provide business students a unique opportunity to explore, learn and test their business ideas in a real business setting.
