SUNYAC Names Jackson Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz sophomore guard Kristin Jackson (East Islip, NY) was named the Player of the Week in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this afternoon.

Jackson led the Hawks to two impressive victories last week and helped SUNY New Paltz improve to 5-4 in the process. She averaged 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, shot .607 (17-of-28) from the field and .500 (9-of-18) from three-point range in three games.

Jackson scored 19 of her career-high 26 points in the first half to lead the Hawks to an 86-28 win over Polytechnic on Saturday (Jan. 8). Jackson was 11-of-15 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range in the game. She also had six points, four rebounds and three assists in a 76-29 win over City College of New York on January 6. Jackson began the week with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists in a 73-60 loss to the College of Staten Island on January 4.

Jackson is the Hawks second leading scorer with an average of 9.1 points per game. In addition, she is the top three-pointer shooter in the SUNYAC. Jackson has made a conference-best 18 three-pointers on 34 attempts for a .529 percentage from beyond the arc.
