SUNY New Paltz Defeats Baruch, 85-70

NEW YORK, NY — Led by three players in double figures, the SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team picked up an 85-70 non-conference win over Baruch this evening.

Sophomore Amseshem Foluke-Henderson (Jamaica, NY) led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. Junior Maurice Douglas (Brooklyn, NY) added 23 points, eight rebounds and three assists before fouling out and sophomore John Hauser (East Williston, VT) sank 10-of-12 free throws to finish with 19.

Foluke-Henderson, Douglas and Hauser combined for 66 of the Hawks’ 85 points in the game.

SUNY New Paltz (7-8) led virtually the whole game and held off two Bearcat runs in the second half. On two occasions, Baruch (13-6) had the ball with a chance to tie the game, or take the lead with a three-pointer, but the Hawks dug in on the defensive end. SUNY New Paltz held Baruch to 39 percent shooting from the field.
