SUNY New Paltz Women’s Swimming Team Finished Second at RPI

TROY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s swimming team put forth a strong swim at the RPI Invitational, finishing in second place with 506.5 points, this afternoon.

The Hawks (6-0) had seven first place finishes. Junior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY) swam to a new varsity record in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in first with a time of 24.54. Masterson also took first in the 100-yard freestyle (54.08) and teamed up with senior Danielle Lindner (Wantagh, NY), sophomore Ashley Williamson (Holland Patent, NY), and sophomore Nevine Roberts (Pound Ridge, NY) for a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:51.00).

Lindner also took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.16) and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.28. The Hawks also took second and third in the 200-yard backstroke, sophomores Katie Rapp (Liverpool, NY), and Liz Delia (Oswego, NY) finished at 2:19.43 and 2:19.68 respectively.

Delia finished first in two solo events as well. She swam a 2:15.27 in the 200-yard individual medley and an 11:02.64 in the 1000-yard freestyle to help the Hawks to their second place finish.
