NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball season has been extended for another week. The Hawks were one of six teams invited to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate Tournament this weekend (Nov. 12-13) at Rochester Institute of Technology.
SUNY New Paltz is seeded fourth in the tournament and will play fifth-seeded Elmira in the second opening round match on Friday at 8 p.m. The Hawks will bring a 27-10 record into their match up with the 17-11 Soaring Eagles. In the only meeting between the two teams this fall, SUNY New Paltz defeated Elmira 3-1 (30-28, 30-18, 18-30, 30-24) on September 18 in the New Paltz Invitational.
The winner of the SUNY New Paltz-Elmira match will play top-seeded and defending champion RIT (24-12) in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Sixth-seeded Vassar (17-17) and third-seeded Geneseo (24-15) will meet in Friday’s first opening round match. The winner will play second-seeded University of Rochester (24-12) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The championship match will be played on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
