SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Slays Blue Knights 3-1

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team improved to an even 3-3 in conference play with a 3-1 win over Geneseo this afternoon.

With eight minutes left to play in the contest, senior midfielder Chris Daly (Washingtonville, NY) chased down a pass toward the box and fired a shot past senior goalie Chris Stock (Penfield, NY) for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Junior defenseman Colin Hillman (Trumansburg, NY) added a goal with twenty seconds remaining to help the Hawks improve to 3-8 overall.

Two minutes into the game, SUNY New Paltz put the first goal on the board when senior defenseman Bobby Monahan (Central Islip, NY) received a pass from sophomore forward Greg Spinelli (Highland, NY) and put it in the back of the net.

The Hawks were able to sustain their lead up until the 51st-minute when senior forward Andy Rice (Rochester, NY) tied the game 1-1.

SUNY New Paltz (3-8, 3-3) sophomore goalie Jake Lammers (Highland, NY) kept the Blue Knights at bay and recorded eight saves on the afternoon.

Stock made five saves for SUNY Geneseo (6-3-1, 3-2-1).
