Fenton Named SUNYAC Women’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz senior goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY — East Meadow High School) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Co-Player of the Week.

Fenton recorded consecutive shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for the Hawks. She had 11 saves in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Brockport (Oct. 1st). The next day, Fenton once again made 11 saves to help lead SUNY New Paltz to a 1-0 win over Geneseo (Oct. 2nd). Fenton extended her shutout streak, which now spans three games, to 228 minutes and 48 seconds without allowing a goal.

Fenton has started all 12 games in net for Hawks this season. In 1,120 minutes, she has 77 saves, a 1.45 goals against average, a .81 save percentage and four shutouts.

Fenton shared this week’s honor with Plattsburgh senior forward Kaleen McCool who was involved in all four of the Cardinals goals last week.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team is 5-5-2 on the season and 3-2-1in the SUNYAC. The Hawks will continue with two conference games this weekend. SUNY New Paltz will host Cortland on Friday (Oct. 8th) at 4:00 p.m. and Oswego on Saturday (Oct. 9th) at 1:00 p.m.
