ONEONTA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team improved to 2-0 with an 8-1 road victory over Oneonta (1-1) this afternoon.
In number one singles, freshman Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) fell 6-2, 3-6, 5-7 to senior Libby Kent (Binghamton, NY). Senior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) captured a 6-4, 6-2 win over sophomore Nicole Lindell (East Greenbush, NY) in number two singles. Freshman Alexandra Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) defeated freshman Elise Perigard (Manlius, NY) 6-1, 6-0 at number three singles. Junior Sara Goldstein (Merrick, NY) in the number four singles match prevailed 6-2, 6-4 over senior Lisa Seelig (Valley Stream, NY). At number five singles sophomore Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis, NY) registered a 6-1, 6-1 win over senior Pamela Katz (Suffern, NY). In the sixth flight senior Amanda Rosario (Bronx, NY) came away with a 6-3, 6-3 win over sophomore Marisa Heydary (Glenmont, NY).
For the second straight day the SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team swept doubles play. In number one doubles Yamakawa and Farrell defeated Kent and Lindell 8-3. Goldberg and Larson defeated Perigard and Katz 8-0 in number two doubles. In number three doubles Goldstein and junior Laura Thomas (Hyde Park, NY) defeated Seelig and Heydary 8-1.
