SCRANTON, PA — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team suffered a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson–Florham in the second day of the Pepsi-Cola Kickoff Classic, at Marywood University.
Despite out shooting the Devils 12-10, the Hawks were unable to break through against FDU-Florham goalie Melissa Braun who registered eight saves. The only goal of the day came in the 21st minute when midfielder Katherine Daly scored off a free kick. It was Daly’s third goal in two games and her effort helped FDU-Florham improve to 2-0.
Senior goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made nine saves for SUNY New Paltz. The Hawks (1-2) will play at Ramapo on Wednesday (Sept. 8) at 4:30 p.m.
