GENESEO, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team defeated Geneseo 6-3 this afternoon. The win is the third straight for the Hawks who improved to 3-0 on the season. SUNY New Paltz took four out of six from Geneseo (2-1) in singles play. In number one singles, freshman Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) defeated freshman Kristen Greiner (Manlius, NY) 7-5, 6-1. In the second flight senior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) lost to sophomore Krissy Feikert (North Syracuse, NY) 5-7, 3-6. Freshman Alexandra Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) beat senior Shalini Sudarsanan (Sherrill, NY) 6-1, 6-3 in number three singles. In the fourth flight, Sara Goldstien (Merrick, NY) lost to senior Nicole King (Scottsville, NY) 3-6, 0-6. At number five singles, sophomore Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis, NY) defeated senior Rene Smith (Rochester, NY) 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. In the sixth flight, senior Amanda Rosario (Bronx, NY) defeated freshman Lauren Eichenauer (Rush Henrietta, NY) 6-0, 6-3.
In number one doubles, Yamakawa and Farrell lost to Greiner and Feikert 2-7. Goldberg and Larson defeated King and Smith 8-1 in number two doubles and in the third fligh, Goldstein and junior Laura Thomas (Hyde Park, NY) defeated Eichenauer and Sudarsanan 8-5.
The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team will be on the road this Saturday, September 11, agianst Brockport.
Singles #1 Yamakawa (NP) defeated Greiner (GEN) 7-5, 6-1. #2 Farrell (NP) lost to Feikert (GEN) 5-7, 3-6. #3 Goldberg (NP) defeated Sudarsanan (GEN) 6-1, 6-3. #4 Goldstein (NP) lost to King (GEN) 3-6, 0-6. #5 Larson (NP) defeated Smith (GEN) 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. #6 Rosario (NP) defeated Eichenauer (GEN) 6-0, 6-3.
Doubles #1 Yamakawa/Farrell (NP) lost to Greiner/Feikert (GEN) 2-7. #2 Goldberg/Larson (NP) defeated King/Smith (GEN) 8-1. #3 Goldstein/Thomas (NP) defeated Eichenauer/Sudarsanan (GEN) 8-5.
