Hawks Sweep Nazareth, Finish 3-1 at Cortland Red Dragon Classic

CORTLAND, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team capped off the two-day, four-match, Cortland Red Dragon Classic with a 3-0 victory over Nazareth this afternoon.

The Hawks (3-2) committed just five errors in the match and hit .293 as a team. Junior middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) and sophomore outside hitter Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY) each had nine kills. Junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) added eight kills and sophomore middle hitter Kate Roche (Patchogue, NY) recorded four blocks, three kills and hit .375. Freshman setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) ran the offense efficiently and finished with 30 assists.

SUNY New Paltz began the day with a 3-0 loss to Cortland. After taking the first two games, 30-22 and 30-26, the Red Dragons took control in the third winning 30-13. Sophomore right side Franchesca Rodriguez (Schenectady, NY) finished the match with six kills for the Hawks.

Mazurowski, Clouston and Kaiser each earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
