Hawks Fall 3-0 to Rutgers-Camden

SCRANTON, PA — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team was shutout, 3-0 by Rutgers-Camden this afternoon in the fourth annual Pepsi Cola Kick-off Classic at Marywood University.

Senior forward Heather Greenwald played a part in all three Lady Raptor goals and finished the afternoon with two goals and an assist. Greenwald put Rutgers-Camden on the board 15 minutes into the game when she put a shot past SUNY New Paltz senior goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY). Nine minutes later, Greenwald set up sophomore midfielder Kate Machion who put the Lady Raptors in front, 2-0.

Rutgers-Camden outshot SUNY New Paltz 18-4 on the day and Lady Raptors maintained their 2-0 edge until the 76th minute when Greenwald scored an unassisted goal.

Fenton made 12 saves for the Hawks who will face Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
